1. Definition of Card Type
You need to have administrative privileges or to be a Project Manager to be able to create and manage card types in your projects and boards.
Types are used to categorize tasks that have common characteristics.
Examples of card types in the software development organizations are: "Bug", "Feature Request", "Customer Feedback" etc. Setting up a type to the cards helps you to categorize your work and to create a group of tasks, which is part of the larger set.
This aims to facilitate reporting, KPI metrics gathering, analysis and process improvement.
2. How to create card type?
Types are created and added on a project basis.
To create a Card Type → go to the main Dashboard, where all your projects and boards are located and select:
- the dotted icon of the Project to open the menu -> select Manage boards
- the dotted icon of the corresponding Board -> select Board settings
Both navigations will open the "Project and Boards Settings" panel (img.1)-> select the Types tab.
To create a new type -> use the ADD NEW TYPE button -> input the name of the Type you want to create -> select a relevant icon for better visualization and click on the checkmark sign to add the type.
The type will be added in the List of types of the corresponding panel. Upon creation, it will be also available on all boards in the respective project.
Use the type settings icon to Edit/Copy/Move/Delete types.
3. How to assign a Type to your card?

The card type field will produce a dropdown list with all types that you have created -> select the one that best fits the respective card -> Update card to save all changes.
