Only Administrators or Project Managers in the account are allowed to add/edit templates.
If you want to quickly create complex task structures with predefined attributes or subtasks, you can use card templates.
1. How to create card templates?
Templates are created and added on a project basis.
1.1 To add a template, go to the main dashboard and click on the Project Settings icon that belongs to every project (the dotted menu) -> select Manage Templates.
In the templates tab of the "Project and Board Settings" panel, you can add/create new templates and assign them to any project in your account.
1.2 Click on the Add New Template button to create a new template.
1.3 Type the template name and the description(this is optional).
For example: If this card template is to be applied to tasks related to bugs -> name it: Bugs.
Click on the checkmark sign to add the template.
1.4 As a next step, a standard Kanban card will open up in order to define and save the attributes associated with this template.
For example: set up the priority of the card to be: high, the color: orange in order to associate the bug tickets with a specific color and to create a better visualization for your team: set up the card type to be "bug" for better reporting further. (this will also add a visual identification for the task), etc.
1.5 Click on Save details and the template will be ready to use.
2. How to apply a template to your card?
To apply a template, use the Load template field of a new or an existing card and select the template from the dropdown list. Every time, when you create a card and select the template of your choice (for example "Bug") -> the newly created card will possess the attributes you have defined upon your initial template configuration, so no need to manually add them.
You will be able to either apply all predefined attributes or you can remove the Select all checkmark and deselect the values that you do not want to preserve.
Click on "Apply" to load the template to the card.
3. How to edit an existing template?
If you want to edit a template, click on the settings icon of the corresponding template to open the menu.
Click on Edit, if you want to edit a template’s name or description. Use the Settings icon to open the template details and to edit the predefined attributes. If you want to copy or move a template to a different project, choose one of these options and select a project from the list that appears. You can also delete a template -> use the delete icon.
4. How to set up a default template to a board?
If a board is designed for processing of a certain type of cards only, users can set up a default template. Every new card, created on that board will automatically get the template values.
To set up a default template -> open the grid menu at the top right corner of your board interface and select Personal Board Settings.
In the Board Settings tab -> select the template you want to apply from the Default template dropdown -> Save board settings.
